Description

This element is to help with housing costs. It can help with rent and service charges for tenants. Before April 2018 it also helped towards interest payments for homeowners. From April 2018 this is no longer true, with a support for mortgage interest benefit fulfilling this role.

To be eligible for housing entitlement, the household must be liable for payments in respect of accommodation they occupy as their home; they must pay the costs and they must occupy the home.
